Acts 2:1-4

I am Back! Sorry for the lack of DDI here the last couple of days..

Pastor Dennis said we were going to be looking at Acts 2 next week.. Thought we could take a look at it as well. Check it out!

Acts 2:1-4

1When the day of Pentecost came, they were all together in one place. 2Suddenly a sound like the blowing of a violent wind came from heaven and filled the whole house where they were sitting. 3They saw what seemed to be tongues of fire that separated and came to rest on each of them. 4All of them were filled with the Holy Spirit and began to speak in other tongues[a] as the Spirit enabled them.

Ben's Comments:

- Remember in chapter one all of the disciples were in Jerusalem waiting for the Holy Spirit to come... well that day is here!
-They were just chilling and then there was a huge wind! It must have been crazy and cool!
- Each person - each follower of Christ was given this power.
- It says "all were filled with the Holy Spirit" They began to speak in other tongues or languages.
- Can you imagine what the disciples were feeling - put yourselves in their shoes.. waiting in this room, huge wind comes, then everybody starts talking in different languages. It would have been pretty chaotic!
- They were able to do this because God gave them the ability "as the Spirit enabled them"

Questions:

1. Did the disciples know when the Spirit was going to come?
2. What would you be thinking if you were there that day?
3. When you received the Holy Spirit when you decided to follow Christ were you able to speak in other languages? Why?

Love to hear your thoughts!

  2. Alex,

Glad to see that you did the DDI. As always I really enjoy your feedback. Liked your answers for 1 and 2. For 3: When the Holy Spirit came on the disciples they actually were able to speak other languages. This was a very special circumstance - special for that time! The Holy Spirit gave them the ability to speak in other languages because people needed to hear about God. Now there is not as much of a need for speaking in other languages - the Holy Spirit gives us other abilities and strengths. Keep up the comments man!
